Our Convening Power
RUSI's mission is to provide a forum for debate on defence and security. Our convening power is second to none.
Our influence is visible in our ability to bring together major figures from across the worlds of defence, security and geopolitics. Since returning to our 61 Whitehall home in 2023 we have played host to leaders from around the world, including UK Ministers and Shadow Ministers, European Presidents and Foreign Ministers, and Deputy Secretaries and Special Envoys from the US.
Our annual lectures to which our members, distinguished guests and media are invited, are a significant draw, hosting the Director General of the National Crime Agency and the Chief of the Defence Staff as examples.
RUSI hosts a series of flagship conferences throughout the year, attended by leaders from the armed forces, government, industry, academic and policy communities.
Our research groups regularly bring together major figures to enable discussions on some of the most pressing issues. Through our public engagements and events, we aim to highlight to wider audiences the pivotal role of in global security; and put our evidence-based research into practice through capacity-building, collaborative workshops and the development of taskforces.
