On 20 June RUSI Europe, in cooperation with the EPC, and the support of the UK Joint Delegation to NATO, hosted a conference at the residence of the UK Ambassador on the future of the UK's role in NATO.
Ambassador Angus Lapsley laid out the key decisions of the recently published Strategic Defence Review in a keynote, expanding on the NATO-first principle the SDR recommends for future UK military planning in a Q&A with RUSI Military Sciences Director Matthew Savill and EPC CEO Fabian Zuleeg.
The following panel, chaired by RUSI Director General Rachel Ellehuus, featured NATO ASG Francois-Marie Gougeon, Deputy Director Natasha Sharp (Euro-Atlantic Security Policy Joint Unit), EPC CEO Fabian Zuleeg, and UKDEL's Graham Webber. They explored industrial capacity issues, future nuclear capabilities in Europe and the political context of NATO ahead of the summit.
