On 27 November, RUSI Europe, with the support of the UK Joint Delegation to NATO, hosted a closed-door roundtable discussion entitled 'Translating 3.5% into Capabilities' at the UK Ambassador's Residence in Brussels.
The roundtable was opened by H.E. Angus Lapsley CMG, Permanent Representative of the UK to NATO, Rachel Ellehuus, RUSI Director-General, and Nick Catsaras, NATO Assistant Secretary General for Defence Policy and Planning.
Participants discussed the NATO Defence Planning Process and capability targets; how NATO and member countries can best collaborate with industry; the role of EU-NATO cooperation; lessons from Ukraine; and the role of technology and innovation in defence planning, among others.
The event convened high-level UK, EU and NATO officials, Permanent Representatives of NATO member states, defence industry representatives, and experts from think-tanks.
