Russia uses “disposable agents” to carry out sabotage in Europe, recruiting them through Telegram and other social media channels for individual tasks in return for relatively small payments. Money may pass through cryptocurrency brokers, informal cash desks and bank accounts. Small amounts and fragmented payment chains make these payments difficult to detect. However, following the money can connect apparently separate crimes and identify the wider network behind them. Kinga Redlowska, Head of CFS Europe at RUSI, said this in an interview with Guildhall.
