Biography
Professor David Crouch is a globally recognised authority in Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) defence and civil nuclear safety, with over 30 years’ experience across defence, security, and the civil nuclear sectors. He is Head of the CBRN & Survivability Group at Cranfield University, Technical Director at United CBRN Ltd, and a Visiting Professor at the University of Hertfordshire.
He previously held senior global product leadership roles at 3M and Scott Safety, driving innovation in respiratory and CBRN protective technologies. A Senior Associate Fellow at the RUSI, David is an active member of its Proliferation and Nuclear policy team and a key contributor to Project Anthracite, focused on DPRK chemical weapons capabilities and counter-proliferation. He is a former Chairman of CBRN UK and continues to advise industry and government as a member of the ADS Security Sector Council.
David plays a leading role in international standards development through ISO, CEN, and BSI, and directs the UK Ministry of Defence’s Counter CBRN Professional Education Programme at the UK Defence Academy, working with NATO, WHO, and the European Commission. A published author and recognised thought leader, he advances resilience for defence, security, and civil nuclear communities worldwide.
He is a Fellow of seven leading international organisations spanning resilience, leadership, education, and science - including SFHEA, FSRP, FEPS, FISRM, FCMI, FICPEM, and FRSC, and holds Chartered status as a Chemist, Scientist, Manager, and Security Professional.
