What may be the case is that the wreckage may have been already struck by potentially another F-15 from the same formation to avoid compromise to the advanced sensors and systems on board, because while there is a very obvious tail fin section and a bit of wingtip, an F-15 is a pretty large, very structurally sound aeroplane and there's a significant crater visible in the footage that's been released on Iranian social media but not much more in terms of large bits of aircraft so it may already have been struck."
