Biography
Marta Popyk is a Research Analyst and Project Officer at the Centre for Finance and Security at RUSI, where she focuses on active financial measures as part of modern hybrid warfare. Her research has examined Russian sabotage activities in Europe and the role of alternative financial systems in enabling such operations.
Before joining RUSI, Marta led international advocacy for the Bring Kids Back UA campaign, building global coalitions to expose and counter the forced deportation of Ukrainian children to Russia. Earlier in her career, she worked in both Ukraine’s Parliament and the Canadian House of Commons, and advised the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine on reform implementation. As a lawyer at Ukraine’s largest foreign investor in renewables, she focused on regulatory frameworks and compliance.
Marta holds a Bachelor’s degree in Law from the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy and a Master of Public Policy from the University of Oxford.
