Biography

Timothy Kimaiyo is an Associate Fellow at Royal United Services Institute and a Monitoring, Evaluation, Research and Learning (MERL) specialist with expertise in conflict, security, governance, and resilience programming across the Horn of Africa. His work focuses on violent extremism, borderland security, migration, climate-security dynamics, and community resilience in fragile and conflict-affected settings.

Based in Nairobi, Timothy has over seven years of experience leading and supporting research, MERL, political economy analysis, economic appraisal, and Value for Money (VfM) assessments for donor-funded programmes across Kenya, Somalia, Ethiopia, and Tanzania. He has supported programmes funded by the UK Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), the UK Integrated Security Fund (UKISF), the European Union, the Dutch government, and USAID. His experience includes designing and managing large-scale surveys, mixed-methods research, and conflict analysis to inform policy, programme adaptation, and peacebuilding initiatives.

Timothy holds a Master of Arts in Economics and a Bachelor of Economics (First Class Honours) from University of Nairobi.
