Biography

Hani Ibrahim is a conflict, political, and security analyst with over eight years of experience supporting peacebuilding, stabilisation, governance, and conflict-sensitive programming across East Africa and the Horn of Africa. Her work focuses on political economy analysis, conflict monitoring, stakeholder mapping, and security research, with experience across Kenya, Somalia, Ethiopia, and South Sudan.

She is currently a RUSI Associate Fellow, conducting independent research and policy analysis in the Horn of Africa. Hani has also consulted with RUSI as the lead analyst for Somalia and Ethiopia on the UK-funded Deris Wanaag Borderlands project, providing strategic analysis and context monitoring to support integrated peace building, security, and development programming. She has previously held analytical and programme support roles with the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) and Kenya's Ministry of Interior and National Coordination.

Hani holds a Master's Degree in International Affairs from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), Bologna. Combining academic training with technical expertise, she employs data informed and qualitative approaches to identify trends, analyse contextual dynamics, and assess emerging risks and threats.

She has worked closely with a wide range of stakeholders, supporting the design and implementation of inclusive, evidence-based strategies for peacebuilding and sustainable development. Hani is particularly committed to fostering collaborative, cross-sectoral approaches that promote long term stability and informed policymaking.
