The US wants a Europe-led NATO. Europeans should start planning it

It is in Europe’s interest to move quickly toward a European-led NATO that also includes a stronger European nuclear component to handle the escalation ladder with credibility against a revisionist and aggressive Russia. Such an initiative will likely be welcomed by the Trump administration, which tends to view Europe as too weak and passive. Already an economic powerhouse, Europe’s agency will increase as Europeans demonstrate they are not just security consumers but security providers in terms of collective defence."
