Iran and United States

Dr Burcu Ozcelik, from the Royal United Services Institute, said: “For Israel to unilaterally continue strikes against Iran even after Trump declares the military operation over would be a huge risk for Netanyahu and jeopardise losing Trump’s support for any future phase...Dr Ozcelik said one possible “off-ramp” that could be acceptable to both the White House and Mr Netanyahu is a ceasefire with Israel appointed as “enforcer, hawkishly monitoring Iranian violations of the agreement, such as efforts to reconstitute missile production sites, missile launchers, or other military capability”. She added: “In practice, this may look like the Israeli Air Force hits on Iranian targets sporadically based on intelligence gathering. This is a scenario that Iran and the IRGC are trying to avoid by restoring some of its deterrence.”
