Russia’s Fifth-Generation Combat Aircraft: Gaining Momentum


As development of the Russian T-50 fighter continues, stealth capability may be about to spread beyond just the US and its allies.

The latest prototype of Russia’s new stealth fighter – the T-50, made by Russian manufacturer Sukhoi – will enter the final stage of its flight test programme in March. Based at the Russian air force’s Akhtubinsk test centre in southern Russia, the first batch of six aircraft will undergo trials to check both the T-50’s avionics and its weapons.
