End-of-Term Report: Major Defence Projects under the UK Coalition, 2010–15


The coalition government trumpeted its success in bringing defence acquisition under control, but the reality was not so simple

The annual Ministry of Defence (MoD) Major Projects Reports produced by the National Audit Office (NAO) are traditionally and perhaps solely scrutinised for their assessment of the extent to which MoD acquisition activities are on time, on budget and delivering the specified performance. The latest report, published at the start of 2015, was welcomed by the then coalition government because of its finding that cost and time increases in this regard had largely disappeared.
