This project tracks Russian arms production, defence industrial supply chains, and innovation cycles along with the efforts to sanction and constrain Russian production.
Russia entered into a mobilised defence industrial economy in July of 2022. From that point the scale of output has increased across a wide range of weapons systems. Despite significant efforts to constrain Russian military industrial production through sanctions output has increased. Understanding how Russia is gearing its military industrial production is critical to both Ukraine’s future and the security of Europe. The project endeavours to track Russia’s military industrial performance and provide opportunities to disrupt it through better targeted measures.
Aims and objectives
The Industrial War project aims to track Russian military industrial output to understand the scale of the threat to Ukraine and Europe. The project examines vulnerabilities in Russian military industrial production and intends to identify lessons on defence industrial mobilisation to inform planning for future transition to conflict.
