Recording: Cyber Monitoring Centre: Year in Review 2025
RUSI's Cyber and Tech team host the Cyber Monitoring Centre (CMC) for a review of its work during 2025.
Overview
In 2025, the Cyber Monitoring Centre (CMC) completed independent assessments of two major cyber events, providing a clearer view of their scale, financial impact and recommendations to improve the UK’s cyber resilience. Its assessment of the financial impact of the cyber-attack against Jaguar Land Rover (JLR), in particular, has been crucial in informing the UK about the cost of large-scale incidents.  Â
Those assessments draw on the approach the CMC has been building since its launch in 2025 : a rigorous, data-led methodology for quantifying the financial impact of major cyber incidents. Â
The session addresses key developments from the year, as well as discusses what has the CMC has learned from assessing the JLR event as well as from the cyber-attack on the M&S retailer, and why this matters for improving transparency and consistency in event analysis, supporting better conversation about risk, and strengthening the foundations for more resilient cyber risk management.Â
