RUSI forges partnership with Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam

Vietnamese Vice-Foreign Minister signs Memorandum of Understanding to secure partnership between RUSI and Vietnam's leading foreign and security policy think tank.

On 26 October 2011, the British and Vietnamese governments held the first UK-Vietnam strategic dialogue and will map out a plan for bilateral engagement for 2012. The agenda included a range of security issues of concern to both countries. Parallel to this initiative, Vietnam's Vice Foreign Minister H.E. Mr. Bui Thanh Son, signed a Memorandum of Understanding on behalf of Vietnam's leading foreign and security policy think tank, the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam (DAV) with RUSI on 25 October 2011.

This agreement will cement a new UK-Vietnam 'second-track' of engagement aiming to promote scholarly exchange and joint research projects in the defence, security and foreign policy arenas.

This will be a first for RUSI in South East Asia and an opportunity for British and Vietnamese experts to explore security issues of mutual concern and to deepen strategic cooperation between both countries.
