Major Bradley Woodward

Major Bradley Woodward is the current British Army Visiting Fellow at RUSI. 

Major Woodward joined the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers in 2011, following officer training at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. His early career included engineering command appointments, an operational tour in Afghanistan and All Arms Parachute Selection. He subsequently commanded a Light Aid Detachment, acting as the senior engineering manager responsible for equipment support, maintenance planning, vehicle upgrades and workshop operations in support of worldwide commitments. Selected for his understanding of Eastern Europe, he then served as a liaison officer with NATO partners to the Baltic states, coordinating multinational training and contingency planning while navigating complex political, legal and cultural sensitivities. 

In 2018, he joined the Defence Cultural Specialist Unit as a Military Cultural Advisor. He completed full-time Russian language training and regional immersion in Kyiv, developing specialist linguistic, cultural and regional expertise. Most recently, Brad served as the Deputy Defence Attaché in Georgia, with regional remit for Armenia and Azerbaijan. 

Returning to the UK, he worked within the Ministry of Defence for both policy and strategy teams before serving directly to a two-star General as her Military Assistant. A fitness/sports fanatic, and having recently qualified as a personal trainer, Brad spends a lot of his spare time in the pursuit of eternal glory; namely in the Hyrox (Hybrid Rockstar) and running domains. 

He also enjoys spending time with his nieces and nephews and wears the self-awarded ‘coolest uncle’ title like a badge of honour.
