Brigadier Mark Totten

Brigadier Mark Totten is Deputy Director of the Defence Equipment and Support (DE&S) Weapons Operating Centre.

Biography

Brigadier Mark Totten is Deputy Director of the Defence Equipment and Support (DE&S) Weapons Operating Centre, before which he served as Director of the Future Commando Force programme. Prior to this he served as Chief of Staff to both the EU Naval Force ATALANTA and to Commander UK Strike Force. He was lead planner in the UK’s 2* Amphibious Headquarters and Chief of Staff in 3 Commando Brigade, before being appointed as Commanding Officer of 42 Commando Royal Marines.

Mark has been deployed to Northern Ireland, Iraq, and Sangin, Afghanistan, as part of the NATO Security and Assistance Force. He was awarded an MBE and subsequently an OBE for his service. After leading the team that developed the Future Commando Force concept for the Integrated Review of 2021, Mark was promoted to Brigadier and became the Senior Responsible Owner for the Commando Force programme in Navy Command. In September 2023 he moved to DE&S as Deputy Director of the Weapons Operating Centre.
