Biography
Dr Matthew LeRiche is a researcher, analyst and adviser on African politics and security studies, with a special focus on Sudan and South Sudan. Matthew has lived and worked in northeast Africa for more than 10 years, engaged in a wide range of activities from documentary film work to supporting humanitarian organisations.Â
He has taught at Ohio University, the London School of Economics and Memorial University of Newfoundland. He has also been a regular political risk analyst for industry and government. He is the author of various academic articles and chapters on South Sudan as well as the book, South Sudan: From Revolution to Independence (Oxford University Press). Matthew has published on the issue of private military and security firms and civil military relations, along with regular media commentary and opinion writing.Â
Matthew holds a Ph.D. in War Studies from King’s College London.
