Biography
Dr Nina Kollars is an Associate Professor in the Cyber and Innovation Policy Institute (CIPI) within the Strategic and Operational Research Department at the United States Naval War College. Her primary areas of research are in emerging technologies, cybersecurity, and military technological adaptation on the battlefield.Â
Nina previously served as an advisor to the US Under Secretary for Research and Engineering, The Hon. Heidi Shyu. Among other certifications and degrees, she holds a Ph.D. from The Ohio State University in political science. She identifies as a hacker and is a co-director of the Maritime Hacking Village, whose mission is to educate and research cyber vulnerabilities in the maritime transportation system.Â
Despite many years in academia and the Pentagon, Nina is most proud of her work with the hacker community and her presentation at DefCon27 entitled ‘Confessions of a Nespresso Money Mule’.
