Biography

Callum Harvey is a cyber and disinformation policy researcher pursuing a DPhil in Information, Communication and the Social Sciences at the Oxford Internet Institute, University of Oxford. His research focuses on cyber threat intelligence and data sharing mechanisms between government and AI vendors. Callum also completed the MSc in Social Science of the Internet at the OII examining the construction of disinformation policy settings in the UK, USA, and Romania, and holds undergraduate degrees in digital media and international relations from the University of Wollongong, Australia.

Before moving to Oxford, Callum served as an Assistant Manager in Digital & Cyber Policy at the Australian Department of Industry, Science and Resources, advising on data and cybersecurity measures within the Safe and Responsible AI policy agenda, as well as working on public sector cybersecurity projects at CyberCX.

His research on digital platforms, disinformation and cybersecurity has been presented at international conferences and published in leading academic journals. Callum is additionally a Research Affiliate of the Digital State Forum established at the OII and Hertie School, Berlin, and an affiliate of the Centre for AI, Trust and Governance at the University of Sydney.

The UK Cyber Effects Network seeks to build and strengthen a UK community of interest that fosters informed debate around the theory and practice of offensive cyber and other cyber effects operations.
