Biography
Professor Katherine Brown is Professor of Religion, Gender and Global Security at the University of Birmingham.Â
She is a senior gender advisor to the EU-UN Global Couter Terrorism Threats Facility, and the Council of Europe. Previously, she has provided policy, research, capacity building and technical support for UN Women, UNOCT, UNDP, and UNODC, as well as the Council of Europe and the former EU Radicalisation Awareness Network.Â
Professor Brown has served as an expert witness in legal processes involving the radicalisation and citizenship revocation of women and children. Among other works, she is the author of Gender, Religion and Extremism (OUP, 2020).
