RUSI Welcomes Dominic Raab as Distinguished Fellow

Former Deputy Prime Minister, The Rt Hon. Dominic Raab, has been appointed a Distinguished Fellow of RUSI.

Mr Raab was Member of Parliament for Esher and Walton from 2010 to 2024, and served in senior ministerial roles in multiple governments, including as Deputy Prime Minister of the UK, Secretary of State for Justice and Lord Chancellor, and Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs.

In government, he oversaw the introduction of the Victims and Prisoners Bill and the UK Bill of Rights. He was instrumental in signalling a strategic shift towards the Indo-Pacific in the Integrated Review in 2021 titled 'Global Britain in a Competitive Age'.

Mr Raab is currently the Head of Global Affairs at Appian Capital Advisory, providing geopolitical and strategic advice, with a focus on forging public-private-partnerships to deepen critical minerals supply chain security. Mr Raab is also the Special Envoy for the World Gold Council on artisanal and small-scale gold mining.

Mr Raab started his career as an international lawyer at Linklaters law firm and worked as an international lawyer at the UK Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) between 2000 and 2006. Dominic will add his considerable frontline legislative and foreign policy experience to RUSI’s existing network of Associate, Senior and Distinguished Fellows.
