RUSI Deputy Director-General Malcolm Chalmers Leaving to Take Up New Role
Malcolm Chalmers to become Strategic Advisor to UK Secretary of State for Defence.
After 17 years at RUSI, Deputy Director-General, Malcolm Chalmers, has announced his intention to take up the position of Strategic Adviser to Defence Secretary John Healey MP, and Head of Review and Challenge in the MoD.
Malcolm is one of RUSI’s longest serving staff. He started as Director of Studies in 2008 and has been Deputy Director-General since 2015.
RUSI’s Director-General, Rachel Ellehuus, said:
Malcolm has been central to RUSI’s transformation and growth during this period, and he has made a substantial personal contribution to research and scholarship on UK defence and foreign policy. He is respected in his field both in the UK and abroad. He will be missed but this is the perfect opportunity to apply his skills in a new way and have an even greater impact on UK policy at this critical time in international affairs.
