Menzies Campbell, The Rt Hon. the Lord Campbell of Pittenweem CH CBE KC FRSE - 1941-2025
The Institute marks with deep sorrow the passing of Menzies Campbell, a long-standing member of RUSI’s Advisory Board.
Throughout decades of distinguished Parliamentary service, Lord Campbell participated in countless conferences and round-table discussions at the Institute, debating the greater issues of the day.
His closely argued yet unfailingly polite and respectful opposition to the UK’s participation in the 2003 Iraq War was particularly important in shaping RUSI’s analysis of that conflict. And until recently, he seldom missed a meeting of the Institute’s Advisory Board, where his suggestions and judicious observations served as an inspiration for RUSI’s staff.
His legacy of public service and dedication to rigorous academic debate will be remembered and cherished.
