I think it's not a good position for the UK to be in because for many decades the UK was always leading by example and people look to the UK for that leadership. There's a huge respect for British forces and for British capability in general. But I think the lack of a defence investment plan practically one year since the Hague Summit, where that 5% of GDP on defence was agreed to by all leaders, that is embarrassing for a leading member of NATO such as the UK."
