What we've got here isn't necessarily a guaranteed direct exposure of activity that is meant to be secret, but essentially adversaries might be able to piece together what activity is underway - what operations have been planned - if they can track where those soldiers have been, and it turns out there aren't conventional operations in these area. And so suddenly you might discover that can only have been special forces activity. So it's a chink in the armour of secrecy that's meant to protect very sensitive activity.
