A Research Article applying the ‘protection curse’ framework to European defence in light of US President Donald Trump’s rhetoric and actions; the author argues that a strategic rethink is necessary.

This article applies the ‘protection curse’ framework to European defence, contending that US security guarantees fostered complacency and weakened military capabilities.
