As part of this programme of work, we conduct extensive research on ongoing conflicts and adversary capabilities.
Understanding adversaries and the contemporary operating environment requires monitoring emerging tactics, capabilities and conflict dynamics. The Military Sciences research group conducts extensive research into potential adversary forces, including their structures and systems.
The research group also conducts fieldwork in ongoing conflicts to understand the dynamics in theatre and the factors shaping conflict outcomes. This research is used to identify lessons that can be transferred to friendly forces. The horizon for incorporating these lessons into friendly force adaptation is within five years.
