RUSI is collaborating with Mike Hudson Foundation to provide an AI chatbot service on our website. Knowbot is a smart AI tool for nonprofits that reads RUSI’s websites and answers questions about the Institute, our events and our membership subscriptions on offer to individuals and organisations.
Knowbot answers questions by only reading RUSI’s websites. By focusing only on information that we provide directly, Knowbot is able to be more detailed and more accurate than most AI.
We are currently trialling Knowbot with the aim is to offer quicker, more accessible support for customers and visitors regarding common queries.
Knowbot is designed to complement our existing support, not replace the ability to communicate with our team. It can guide users to relevant information on our website and provide faster responses to routine questions.
Why RUSI is using Knowbot
We are exploring new ways to improve user experience and ensure our visitors can access clear, timely information at any time of the day or night.
We also understand that some users are already using AI chatbots to crawl our website for information. Knowbot’s presence on our website helps users who are accessing our information in this way by enabling us to optimise our website for AI tools.

We understand that AI tools raise important ethical questions, especially in academic contexts.
Knowbot does not make decisions or replace human engagement. It exists solely to provide guidance and improve access to information.
