Jonathan van der Valk

Biography

Jonathan is a Research Analyst at RUSI's Centre for Financial Crime and Security Studies. He joined RUSI in April 2020 following the completion of his Master's in Conflict, Security and Development at Kings College London. His thesis examined to what extent the neoliberal restructuring programs of International Financial Institutions in the 1980s and 1990s created resilient authoritarianism in resource poor Arab states in North Africa.

Jonathan holds a BA in International Relations from the University of Nottingham. 

His work at RUSI focuses on the UK’s Economic Crime Plan, as well as safeguarding financial inclusion.

Prior to joining RUSI, Jonathan was an intern at the Britain Israel Research and Communications Centre (BICOM).
