Most of China’s satellites are of the leo variety. Being closer to Earth, they tend to produce images with a higher resolution than those captured by geo satellites. In terms of coverage, China’s growing constellation of leo satellites has gaps of less than 30 minutes between images of any one spot, says Juliana Suess of the Royal United Services Institute, a think-tank in London. geo satellites have no gaps at all. Yaogan-41, for example, can watch over Asia without interruption. When used with other technologies, it could give China “an unprecedented ability to identify and track car-sized objects throughout the entire Indo-Pacific region,” writes Clayton Swope, a former CIA analyst now at csis.

Juliana Suess, an analyst with the British think tank Royal United Services Institute, wrote in an article that “there are many reasons why China would build a satellite-enabled internet constellation in LEO,” not least of which is to expand its influence overseas. “The existing strides that China has made in terms of soft power, specifically on the continent of Africa and with regard to internet infrastructure, suggest a relatively fast and easy plug-in into Guo Wang,” she noted.

Juliana Suess, a Research Analyst at the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI) think tank, told The Sun it would be "wrong" to think Putin wouldn't "sacrifice everything" by firing nukes into space... Suess told The Sun: "A nuclear explosion in space would be indiscriminate and have long-lasting effects on the orbit in question. A nuclear detonation would wipe out a series of satellites in one go. Russia would be sacrificing their own satellites and space capabilities".
