Kacper Rekawek

Visiting Fellow

Kacper Rekawek, PhD, is a visiting fellow at RUSI (October-December 2014), National Security and Resilience Studies, and a research analyst in the European Security and Defence Economics project of the Polish Institute of International Affairs (PISM). Kacper specialises in terrorism and counter-terrorism. Prior to joining RUSI, he has been working at PISM since February 2011, and as a lecturer the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in Warsaw, Poland.

He has a PhD from Queen’s University Belfast, and is the author of the first comparative study of the factions of the IRA (Irish Republican Terrorism and Politics: Comparative study of the Official and Provisional IRA) which was published by Routledge in Political Violence series in 2011. Between January 2013 and July 2014, Kacper was the Paul Wilkinson Memorial Fellow at the Handa Centre for the Study of Terrorism and Political Violence, University of St. Andrews where he was involved in a research project on counter-terrorism in Eastern/Central Europe. He is currently preparing his second book on countries that do not suffer from an elevated terrorist threat but nonetheless must organise themselves for counter-terrorism.
