Archie
Murdoch

Archie Murdoch was Course Assistant until November 2019. He no longer works for RUSI.

Archie holds a BA in Modern Languages and Cultures, having studied Arabic and
Spanish at Durham University. His research has covered refugee studies, religious
extremism, and conflict resolution in the Middle East, as well as political discourse
and populism in Latin America.


Prior to joining RUSI, Archie has worked at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office,
covering the Middle East and North Africa, and, more recently, the European
External Action Service in Cairo, as a foreign policy analyst. Previously, Archie also
spent time studying and working in Lebanon, Oman, and Qatar, and has travelled
further across the region.


Research interests include state interactions with non-state actors, armed groups’
strategic communications, and identity studies, particularly involving religion and
language.
