Cryptocurrencies in UK Politics

The Joint Committee on the National Security Strategy has published its report on political finance and foreign influence.

The JCNSS report draws heavily on the work of the Centre for Finance and Security (CFS) at RUSI regarding the scale and severity of foreign financial interference threats faced by the UK, and the response required. In particular, the report adopts the findings of CFS at RUSI’s Cryptocurrencies in UK Politics project that an immediate moratorium, not a blanket ban, is what is needed to manage the security risks posed by cryptocurrencies in political finance. In this blog post, CFS Research Fellow Eliza Lockhart shares her initial thoughts on the report.
