A presentation by Andrew Manley, Chief Executive, Defence Infrastructure Organisation.
In his presentation, Andrew Manley will outline how the Ministry of Defence, one of the UK's largest landowners, is transforming the way it manages its estate, from the merging of eight legacy organisations to form a single world class infrastructure provider. He will look at the challenges of rebasing the British Army from Germany, introducing a new operating model and IT system, and the re-letting of major infrastructure contracts. He will also discuss how the Defence Infrastructure Organisation enables defence personnel to live, work and train in the UK and overseas.
Andrew Manley joined the Ministry of Defence in February 2010 as Director General Commercial. In August 2010, he took on the additional role of Chief Executive of Defence Estates and oversaw the Strategic Defence and Security Review of estates. This resulted in the setting up of the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) on 1st April 2011, of which Andrew became the first Chief Executive. Prior to joining the Ministry of Defence, he spent nearly thirty years in the chemicals and oil industry, mainly with Shell. For the last decade, he led a number of Shell’s largest restructuring projects. Andrew has written about and contributed extensively to research into the management of change.
Refreshments will be served from 1515.
