A presentation by Commodore Steven Jermy RN, Visiting Professor of Strategy and Leadership, University of Plymouth.
The UK Strategic Defence and Security Review of 2010 reaffirmed the strategic requirement for a future Carrier Strike capability: A Queen Elizabeth Class carrier operating with joint combat aircraft, giving the UK the ability to project military power more than 700 nautical miles over land, as well as sea, from anywhere in the world. This capability is now known as Carrier Enabled Power Projection (CEPP) and offers operational agility and political choice. In his presentation, Commodore Jermy will assess the strategic utility of CEPP and the role of aircraft carriers in providing sovereign deployable airpower and forward presence.
