A presentation by Brigadier Chip Chapman, Head of Counter-Terrorism and UK Operations (Military), Ministry of Defence. The comprehensive approach to operations is talked of mostly in relation to Afghanistan. How far does it exist in the UK and what is the role of the military in securing the UK against terrorism and wider disruptive challenges is a question for all governments, given the changing nature of both threats and challenges.
In his presentation, Brigadier Chapman will examine these questions and the approach that might be taken. Brigadier Chip Chapman has been dealing with counter-terrorism and UK issues for six of the last eight years including: as Colonel MO2 in the UK Ministry of Defence with responsibility for terrorism and wider disruptive challenge and resilience issues; as the last Chief of Staff in Northern Ireland from 2005 to 2007 and in his current role as Head of Counter-Terrorism and UK Operations for the last three years. In between times, he commanded 19 Light Brigade (on its transition from 19 Mechanised Brigade) from 2003 to 2005.
Refreshments will be served from 1515.
