A presentation by Air Vice Marshal Carl Dixon CB OBE FRAeS RAF, Commander, Joint Helicopter Command (JHC), Ministry of Defence.
In his presentation, Air Vice Marshal Dixon will focus on how the Joint Helicopter Command intends to meet the needs of a challenging and rapidly changing defence portfolio out to 2020 and beyond. He will touch on likely structures post 2015 SDSR, balanced against the shape of the Command to meet the challenges of the Future Force 2020. He will look at the practicalities of renewing and upgrading the rotary wing fleet and the Army's unmanned air systems, and the challenges of preparing the JHC and its Land Forces colleagues for life beyond Afghanistan.
Air Vice Marshal Carl Dixon CB OBE FRAeS RAF, a battlefield helicopter pilot, has commanded UK flying operations around the world and has been closely involved in developing British air assault and amphibious capability. He is a graduate of the Advanced and Higher Command and Staff Courses and has spent most of his varied staff career working on the Ministry of Defence staff in defence policy, operational commitments and resources and plans. Since 2010, he has commanded the UK's Joint Helicopter Command, a unique organisation comprising the Army's 16 Air Assault Brigade, and all of UK's fleets of battlefield helicopters.
