US President Donald Trump has until 12 May to decide whether or not to waive sanctions against Iran again, in line with the terms of the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). Back in January, President Trump stated that unless a series of conditions were met to fix what he called ‘the disastrous flaws’ in the deal, sanctions will be re-introduced and, potentially, the US could withdraw from the nuclear deal. Such a move could render the deal dead.
In this briefing, Dr Tabrizi will explore the implications of the decision taken by the US administration, the reaction in Tehran and across Europe, as well as potential scenarios moving forward.
