RUSI is leading a research project entitled ‘Science and Technology for a Transforming Alliance’. The project seeks to evaluate the role of collective transatlantic defence S&T programmes in the context of NATO and EU military and political transformations. It is being developed along two parallel tracks:
A series of workshops, providing structured opportunities for discussion and analysis of collective S&T programmes in the context of new security threats and NATO and EU military and political reforms;
An analysis paper, examining existing frameworks and programmes for collective transatlantic S&T, proposals for reform and alternative collaboration models.
A workshop will take place at RUSI on 20 June 2005. The workshop will consider alternative models for collective defence S&T research. It will also examine the future of science diplomacy as a tool for advancing collective transatlantic security interests.
