RUSI is pleased to host the launch of Dr Antonio Giustozzi's latest book on the political history of the Afghan army, the first full-length expose on this vitally important institution.
In his latest work, Dr Giustozzi locates the army's development within the wider context of statebuilding in Afghanistan based on extensive interviews with both Afghan army officers and their advisers and mentors.
Dr Antonio Guistozzi is an Associate Fellow at the Royal United Services Institute and a Visiting Fellow at King's College London. He holds a PhD from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and a BA in Contemporary History from the
University of Bologna. He worked at the Crisis States Research Centre at LSE until January 2011. He also served with the United Nations Assistance Mission to Afghanistan (UNAMA) from 2003-2004.
