Rethinking UK Security Policy – Inaugural Event for Rebalancing Expertise in Defence and Security
This event considers UK security policy – both domestic and international – and its role in developing and improving diversity and inclusion.
This discussion focuses on considering UK security policy – both domestic and international - and its role in developing and improving diversity and inclusion. There is often insufficient diversity in the voices contributing to important conversations and policy debates in our field. With the Integrated Review underway, a cross government effort to define and implement 'Global Britain', and an increased focus on the differing impacts of domestic security policies across various minority groups, the opportunities and challenges facing the UK in delivering domestic and foreign security policies that works for all should be examined.
This inaugural REDS event focuses on better understanding what security means in the context of UK policy, how UK policy can become more inclusive, and drew on examples from both the UK and elsewhere as to how the UK might improve its security policy to take these considerations into account.
