Postponed: The ICS - RUSI Lecture: Leadership – Then, Today and Tomorrow

calendarclock - (BST)

To mark the 75th anniversary of VE (Victory in Europe) Day, RUSI and the International Churchill Society (ICS) will be hosting a special event on Tuesday 28th April 2020.

Doors open at 6pm and the event will commence at 6.30pm. The formal proceedings will take place for an hour and will be followed by refreshments and an opportunity for members of both organisations to meet each other.

The theme of the event will be ‘Leadership – Then, Today and Tomorrow’. General Stanley McChrystal (Ret’d) will be our guest of honour. He will be interviewed on stage by Deborah Haynes, Foreign Affairs Editor, Sky News.

General McChrystal is uniquely placed to talk to this theme as he founded McChrystal Group in 2011 to deliver innovative leadership solutions to businesses globally in order to help them transform and succeed in challenging, dynamic environments. Previously, McChrystal was a four-star general, a former commander of US and International Security Assistance Forces (ISAF) Afghanistan and the former commander of the nation’s premier military counter-terrorism force, Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC). He is best known for developing and implementing a comprehensive counterinsurgency strategy in Afghanistan, and for creating a cohesive counter-terrorism organization that revolutionized the interagency operating culture.

The event will be co-hosted by General the Lord Houghton of Richmond GCB CBE ADC, RUSI Trustee and former Head of the Armed Forces; and Allen Packwood OBE, Director of the Churchill Archives Centre, Churchill College, Cambridge.

The on stage interview will be followed by a question and answer session with RUSI and ICS members.

Refreshments will be served at the end of the event.

There is no ticket price. RUSI members will be registered online on a first come first served basis, as will members of the ICS.

Registration will open at 0900 on Monday 2 March 2020.
