A conversation with Lieutenant Colonel Nana Twumasi-Ankrah, Household Cavalry officer, reflecting on his career and the importance of Black History Month for the British Army.
For the British Army, the event provides an opportunity to recognise the contribution and achievements of those from African or Caribbean heritage, as well as to celebrate their service and sacrifice.
In this wide-ranging conversation, Lieutenant Colonel Twumasi-Ankrah will talk about his career in the Household Cavalry and his frontline service in Iraq and Afghanistan. He will also discuss how a diverse and inclusive culture enhances operational effectiveness.
In addition to his tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan, Lieutenant Colonel Nana Twumasi-Ankrah MVO served as the first black Equerry to Her Majesty The Queen. He recently worked in the Afghanistan policy team at the UK Ministry of Defence.
