European Commissioner McGuinness on EU Sanctions and Financial Crime
RUSI’s Centre for Financial Crime and Security Studies and the EU Delegation to the UK welcome you to a discussion with Mairead McGuinness, European Commissioner for Financial Stability, Financial Services and the Capital Markets Union.
Ms McGuinness leads the EU’s efforts in developing a comprehensive approach to fighting financial crime, money laundering and the financing of terrorist activities. She also oversees the implementation of EU sanctions, an essential part of the EU’s response to Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine.
The Commissioner will first discuss the latest EU initiatives, notably sanctions and the EU’s anti-money laundering package, with Tom Keatinge, Director of the Centre for Financial Crime and Security Studies. She will then be joined in the discussion by Dr Susan Hawley, Executive Director of Spotlight on Corruption, and Neil Whiley, Director of Sanctions at UK Finance, to explore issues related to financial integrity and tackling financial crime.
