Leading experts examine the trajectories of Boko Haram’s insurgency in northern Nigeria, and discuss the challenges and limitations of existing counter-terrorism approaches.

The Royal United Services Institute and the Centre for African Conflict and Development are joining hands in a webinar panel of experts to discuss Boko Haram’s protracted insurgency, as well as the limitations, challenges, and future trajectories of counterinsurgency strategies across the Lake Chad Basin.

Inspired by a special issue of the African Conflict and Peacebuilding Review, the discussion offers useful insights into Boko Haram’s past motivations, current activities and tensions between its local and global agendas. We will also assess Nigeria’s counter-terrorism policies and practices.
