James Barr will draw on four years' archival research and Middle Eastern study that culminated in his book, ‘Setting the Desert on Fire: Britain's secret war in Arabia 1916-18’. Barr assesses what lessons Lawrence of Arabia can offer in defeating insurgents and building alliances in the Arab world; exactly ninety years after Lawrence swept into Aqaba.
