An online address by the Rt. Hon. Tobias Ellwood MP, Chair of the Defence Select Committee, House of Commons, on the extensive implications for UK defence following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

In his speech, Mr Ellwood will discuss the need for the UK to safeguard its operational readiness, as it chooses to send weapons from its own stockpiles for Ukraine’s defence needs, and further increase operational spending in the UK defence budget. He will also reflect on the emerging Russia-China alliance, which places a new dimension on this crisis and how the West responds.

The Rt. Hon. Tobias Ellwood MP represents Bournemouth East in Parliament. He was previously Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Defence People and Veterans at the Ministry of Defence (2017-2019) and Parliamentary Under-Secretary for the Middle East and Africa at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (2014-2017).
