While several of its victories have gained media headlines, the Islamic State in Khorasan (IS-K) is struggling to compete with the Taliban in Afghanistan. There is now an established debate over whether the Taliban can handle the IS-K successfully, and what kind of threat IS-K might represent to the West.

Drawing on extensive field research, Dr Giustozzi will outline the changing nature of the war in Afghanistan over the past two decades, and how the Taliban and its leaders have responded over time. He will also offer a detailed analysis of the nature of IS-K, its aims and strategies, and its evolution in an environment already populated by many jihadist organisations.

The webinar will be moderated by Dr Imogen Parsons, Senior Research Fellow, Terrorism and Conflict, RUSI. This event is open to RUSI members only.
